well lets see...you can wear like a wide plastic headband with like polka dots or stripes on them or the thin elastic color headbands. I have kind of short hair and I use the thin elastic ones...and they work great.

I like to tie a light silk scarf in mine - one of those fat ribbon kind. Kind of retro-60's style, i tie it in a small bow at the back and have long streamers.. My yellow one gets a lot of use in the summer time!

With a scarf/ribbon you dont have to worry about the unseemly 'underside' of elasticated bands, or the headaches that (i certainly) you can get from the rigid plastic kind! And they come in loads of colours and/or patterns..

LuluLemon Headbands would be good for running. For lounging around and hanging out with friends you can go to Claire's and buy headbands. Some are hard and they have really cool designs on them. I think you can also get some that are not hard and they still look great.
